Check the Domain Before You Click

Checking Your Electricity Bill Online, Safely

Search "check MEPCO bill" or "LESCO bill online" and most of the top results aren't official — they're ad-heavy copycat sites with names like mepcobillonline.cc and lescobill.org.pk. Here's the one hub the Ministry of Energy itself names, and how to verify any DISCO site before you type in your account number.

The Real Problem: Search Doesn't Take You to the Official Site First

PAKIT searched for "MEPCO bill check" and similar terms the way an ordinary reader would, and the results were dominated by third-party domains that aren't obviously connected to any government body or DISCO: names like mepco-bills.pk, mepcobll.com, mepcobillonline.cc, checkbill.online, lesco-online.com.pk, and lescobill.org.pk. None of these were verified as official for this post, and PAKIT isn't linking to any of them. That doesn't automatically mean every one is malicious — some may just be ad-supported convenience sites — but there's no good reason to enter your CNIC, account number, or payment details on a site you can't confirm is run by your actual electricity company.

The One Hub the Ministry Actually Names

The Ministry of Energy's own Power Division FAQ page states plainly: for an electronic copy of your bill, "you can also view/print/download your electricity bill online by using the following link: bill.pitc.com.pk." That page is run by PITC — the Power Information Technology Company, which operates under the Power Division and, per industry reporting from March 2026, runs the billing system behind roughly 35 million active consumers a month nationwide.

PAKIT independently checked two separate DISCO websites — MEPCO's (mepco.com.pk) and IESCO's (iesco.com.pk) — and both of their own "Online Bill Check" navigation links point to that same bill.pitc.com.pk domain (specifically the /mepcobill and /iescobill paths). Two independent official DISCO sites and the Ministry's own FAQ all pointing to the same URL is about as solid a confirmation as PAKIT could find — though note that the bill.pitc.com.pk page itself blocks automated access, so PAKIT could not directly verify what information it asks for; expect your bill's reference number or your account/consumer number.

Official DISCO Sites, One by One

Pakistan's electricity distribution is split across separate regional companies (DISCOs). Per the Ministry's own FAQ page and IESCO's site directory, here are the domains associated with each:

  • MEPCO (Multan): mepco.com.pk — verified loading, official-looking, links to bill.pitc.com.pk for bill checking.
  • IESCO (Islamabad): iesco.com.pk — verified loading, official-looking, links to bill.pitc.com.pk for bill checking.
  • K-Electric (Karachi, privately run, not a DISCO under the same structure): ke.com.pk — verified loading, has its own "Digital Bills & Payments" page.
  • LESCO, FESCO, GEPCO, PESCO, HESCO, SEPCO, QESCO, TESCO and others — domains are listed on the Ministry's FAQ page and IESCO's own DISCO directory, but PAKIT's automated check was blocked from loading several of these directly (including LESCO's and PESCO's), so their bill-check features specifically aren't independently confirmed here. Use the domain naming pattern above as a guide, and apply the verification steps below before entering any personal or payment details.

A Specific Flag: Don't Follow a "Staging" Link

While checking K-Electric's site, PAKIT noticed its production bill-payment page links through to a staging server on a non-standard port (a URL starting with staging.ke.com.pk:24555) for the actual duplicate-bill form. A staging environment is a testing version of a website, not meant for live customer use. This isn't necessarily a security problem — it may just be an overlooked leftover link — but as a general rule, if a bill-payment journey ever routes you through a URL with "staging," "test," "dev," or an unusual port number in it, stop and use the main site or an official app instead rather than entering your information.

The Safer Alternative: Skip the Website Entirely

For most people, the lowest-risk way to pay an electricity bill isn't through any DISCO's website at all. Pakistan's major banking apps, JazzCash, Easypaisa, and ATMs all support electricity bill payment using just your bill's reference number or consumer/account number — no need to locate or verify a DISCO's website at all. If you're unsure about a site, this is the path PAKIT would recommend by default.

How to Verify You're on the Real Site

  • Check the domain matches the company name — MEPCO's real site is mepco.com.pk, not a variation with extra words like "bill," "online," or "duplicate" tacked on.
  • Don't click sponsored/ad results in search engines for this kind of query — go to the DISCO's known domain directly, or navigate there from this guide or the Ministry's own site.
  • Be wary of unusual URLs — staging subdomains, IP addresses instead of domain names, or non-standard ports are signs you're not on a production, customer-facing page.
  • When in doubt, pay through your bank app or mobile wallet instead of a DISCO website you can't confirm.

Conclusion

There is a real, Ministry-confirmed way to check your electricity bill online — bill.pitc.com.pk, cross-confirmed by both MEPCO's and IESCO's own sites — but it's genuinely hard to find organically because search results for this topic are crowded with copycat sites PAKIT could not verify as official. If your DISCO isn't MEPCO, IESCO, or K-Electric, PAKIT couldn't independently confirm its bill-check page this time around, so apply the verification steps above, or sidestep the whole problem and pay through your bank app instead.
